The development of a formal credentialing process for the certification of cognitive behaviour therapists in Canada is a key mandate of the CACBT-ACTCC. To this end the Board of Directors established a Credentialing Committee that was charged with the development and maintenance of the credentialing process. As a standing committee of the Board of Directors, the Chair of the Credentialing Committee will be a board member, with the committee membership approved by the Board of Directors.Certification, defined by the Board of Directors and ratified at the May, 2011 annual meeting is as follows:
1. Is an individual who is licensed, registered or certified to provide independent professional practice related to cognitive and behavioural therapies in the jurisdiction in which he or she resides or is employed.
3. Holds current legal liability insurance in the jurisdiction in which he or she resides or is employed, or is exempt from this requirement under local statutory authority.
Certified Members and Fellows must be members of the association in good standing.
